Visiting Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar

Situated in Bagac Bataan, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is the home of 60 heritage houses that are all carefully reassembled and curated. These houses came from different parts of the Philippines like Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Laguna to name a few. Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar has been open to the public for almost 8 years now, but it took about 10 years to build the entire collection of old houses before it was opened to the public.

Day tour costs 2500 pesos which includes a walking tour, food and welcome refreshments. But we got our tickets for only 1200 since we availed the their Freedom Access promo which is a celebration promo for the Independence Day last June 12, 2018.

We got to Las Casas at around 9AM, before you are allowed to explore Las Casas you first have to register, so I suggest you allot at least 30 minutes for the registration, good thing the walking tour is conducted every hour we get to join the 9:30AM walking tour. We went inside several houses, there was Casa Quiapo, Casa Luna, Casa Binan and Casa Candaba. The antique and rustic ambiance of each house would make you feel like you are suddenly transported back in time. Each house was beautifully crafted in its exact form during its glory days.

There are several stores within the area that sells souvenirs and refreshments but the prices can be a little costly. I suggest bring your own food instead. There are also restaurants in the area but the restaurants only have certain time of opening and closing.

My tips for those who are planning to visit Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar are:
1. Consider the weather - always check the weather first, bring sunscreen because the place could be extremely hot during the summer seaon whereas bring an umbrella or raincoat or jacket if you are visiting during the rainy season.
2. Try to find their promos - scout for promos, the fees can be quite expensive and looking for promos won't hurt.
3. Make sure you have enough memory space - the place is magnificent, I was completely in awe during the entire time we spent in Las Casas, taking pictures is such a delight
4. Wear comfortable clothing - as your visit would be filled with much walking around, comfortable clothing is strongly advised.
5. Enjoy - take as much picture but do not forget to live in the moment.

(According to the tour guide a stay in this house cost 150,000 pesos per night)

Over all, our tour in Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar was very enjoyable although the weather was not that favorable. Seeing this old houses made me wonder how much history each of the pillars have witnessed. I am truly in awe and deep admiration in the dedication of the owner to rebuild such magnificent old houses. Given the chance I would definitely visit Las Casas again in the future and hopefully spend a night in their hotel.
