Lara Jean Song Covey is a sixteen year old girl who was blessed to have a wonderful dad and two sisters namely Margot and Kitty. The story really started when Kitty sends out Lara Jeans love letters to the five boys Lara Jean had feelings for way back in the past out of spite. But lady luck was on Lara Jean's side because it was all thanks to that stunt by Kitty that Lara Jean became close to Peter Kavinsky, the most handsome guy in her school, who happened to be Genevieve's, aka the queen bee-tch, ex boyfriend.

Lara Jean and Peter K decided to help each other in trying to save their faces from their respective love interests. One of the boys who received one of the five love letters is Josh Sanderson who happened to be Margot's boyfriend so Lara Jean will do anything just to save her self from the humiliation. Peter and Lara Jean agreed to pretend like they were together to make Genevieve jealous while Lara Jean on the other hand have to make Josh believe that she is so over him when in fact she still have some feelings for him.

Things were going as planned but then on a ski trip Peter admitted to Lara Jean that he likes her already and that he wanted to really be in a real relationship with Lara Jean. Taken aback by Peter's confession, Lara Jean turned him down at first only to realize moments later that she wants Peter too so she went to the hot tub to tell Peter that she also likes him only to find Peter alone, and what was planned to be just a confession turned out to a somewhat make out session. It turned out that Peter's ex girlfriend saw the make out session and recorded it.

Turns out it was Kitty who sent all those letters to those boys when she found Lara Jean's hat box one day.
