Sometimes it's okay to travel with less company. November 2, 2014 is a very memorable day in my life, for it was then that I finally tried traveling on my own, well not actually on my own because I was with my cousin but it was almost close to traveling alone. It was actually unplanned, we just decided to go to Macau that morning and ended up doing so without even knowing how we're going to get there. So what we did first was to research about how to get there. We were lucky because my aunt and uncle went to Macau some time so they had an idea how we would go to Macau.

Macau is considered a gambler's paradise in Asia. It has lots of extravagant hotels and casinos. We were staying in Hong Kong so we needed to ride a ferry in order to go to Macau. So from Jordan Road in Hong Kong we get on the MTR and alighted in the Central Station and from there the ferry terminal was just a few floors away. The ferry ride costs around 180 HKD, I heard it was quite expensive that day because it was Sunday but they said that the fare is cheaper during weekdays. When we finally arrived in Macau we immediately searched for the information center which was located in the first floor of the Macau Ferry Terminal, we asked for a map of Macau and also some information on how to get us to the Venetian Hotel and the Ruins of St. Paul (Remember: If you are in a foreign place ask for maps of the place in case you get lost and mark your point of origin so that you would know where and how to go back.) From the ferry terminal we heard that there is actually a free shuttle that will take you to The Venetian Hotel which is situated just right across the ferry terminal. When we arrived at The Venetian Hotel we were amazed by the marvelous designs of the hotel's facade, it felt more like we were in Italy rather than in Macau. We were also very fortunate because we've met a lot of our kababayans along the way who were all very helpful. No, we do not plan to splurge in the casino nor did we do so, we just wanted to see The Venetian Hotel that's all (it might sound lame for some, but hey we enjoyed our trip anyways).

The Ruins of St. Paul was the next tourist spot on our list and it was actually a struggle going there. The Ruins was situated in the middle of a crowded urban dwelling place so you can just imagine how difficult it must be to locate it with just me and my cousin navigating through the use of the map we've got from the ferry port. I must say that my sense of direction was at its optimum state that time praise God! We rode a free shuttle from The City of Dreams Hotel to The Ruins. What I do love most about Macau is its free shuttle from hotels to the city to the ferry ports it was such a life-saver. The Ruins was full of people literally. The are tons of stores around it where you can buy all sorts of stuffs. I just bought a ref magnet as a souvenir (hey don't judge me, I am a traveler in a very steep budget here you know). When we were dead tired already we decided to go back to Hong Kong but to be honest we really do not know how. What we did was go to the free shuttle bus stop, this time we rode the shuttle going to The Galaxy Hotel and from there we rode another shuttle again going to the ferry port and again that was a free shuttle.

We were able to go back to Hong Kong safe and sound thanks to one Filipina who was so very helpful. We did not actually get to ask for her name but who ever she is, she was an angel to us. I hope that she gets the job she was telling us on our ferry ride back to Hong Kong. So Ate na super bait na tumulong sa amin sa Hong Kong maraming salamat po God bless you po.
